242 AHME Scholars from Cotabato City, SGA receive P30-K benefits for 2020-2021 first sem

242 Access to Higher and Modern Education-Scholarship Program (AHME-SP) scholars from Cotabato City and BARMM Special Geographic Areas (SGA) have received today, July 15, 2021, their scholarship benefits amounting to P30,000.00 for the First Semester of Academic Year 2020-2021 during the ceremonial releasing held at Cotabato City. Launched in 2019, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) aimed to promote quality education to the Bangsamoro AHME scholars and to eradicate poverty through the rightful educational system approach. MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said that higher education indeed has benefits to Bangsamoro learners and AHME-SP is a testament to the ministry’s commitment to make quality education accessible and level the playing field between students belonging to various socio-economic standings. “For instance, students acquire a broad range of skills that can qualify them for a broader range of career choices in different fields and offer them more room for personal and professional advancement,” he said. He added that the ministry recognizes higher education as one of the critical drivers of growth performance and competitiveness in national and global economies that is why the MBHTE is fully committed to advancing higher education due to its impact on the Bangsamoro economy and society. 1,064 AHME scholars are yet to receive their P30-K semester allowance. Of the number, 205 are from Lanao del Sur, 109 from Marawi City, 104 from Sulu, 106 from Tawi-Tawi, 109 from Basilan, and 62 from Lamitan City. Meanwhile, the releasing of benefits for the 250 Maguindanao scholars is scheduled Friday, July 16, 2021 and shall take place at the MBHTE Old Bldg. Grounds, BARMM Compound. Over all, a total of 1,298 AHME scholars in the Bangsamoro region are entitled to receive P60,000.00 each per year. Source: MBHTE FB Page
